Stop the presses! Ricky Martin just published a letter on his website where he confesses he is GAY! Who would have thought? *eyeroll*

So, it's not exactly a big surprise as everyone's suspected forever (although I always gave him the benefit of doubt, not that I cared much either way), but now we know, and maybe that can help young gay men who are afraid to come out too. Of course it doesn't have the impact it would have had if he'd come out at the height of his success, but it is a sad fact that it WOULD probably have destroyed his career then. His were sultry songs whose success relied heavily on his good looks and effect on young women. When such news are revealed, I always wonder how it didn't come out sooner. A lot of people have to have known for a long time in his entourage and in the artistic sphere, so how come it wasn't pasted in the tabloids 10 years ago? *puzzled*

In any case, Mr Martin probably feels much better now that the weight of this secret is off his shoulders. I'm happy for him and I hope he records some more albums someday :).

Next landmark will be when Zachary Quinto makes his coming out too :-D
