Mail Day

And what a great one it was :-D I received my packages from both Amazon & The Book Depository at once. BD had for me:

-Fathom's Five: The cross of sins, Geoffrey Knight
-Collision Course, K.A. Mitchell

And from AZ:
-Warrior's Cross, Madeleine Urban & Abigail Roux
-No Going Home, T.A Chase

Plus the Phenomenon DVD my mom had asked me to look for. Yep, the books are all M/M. I is happy :-D

I still don't know which of these I'm going to read once I'm done with Dreamfever (which is very good so far, I must say, although still niggardly on actual answers - like, WTF is Barrons??????). Fathoms' Five, contemporary adventure, sounds very promising and rather suited to my mood, but WC, much-awaited Urban/Roux fare, could do just as well; its excerpt was very good. But there's just as much chance that I'll veer off toward Covet or the latest Steve Berry or fall into Star Trek again. Hey, only one week before the DVD of the new movie! I need to get in the mood :-p.

Speaking of Star Trek and mail days, I should be having some very soon, since I've placed 2 orders for zines since last week :) From Jim and Melody, I am finally getting:

-Splendor (Dovya Blacque - good way to gauge her writing)
-You & I (Peotry by Leonard Nimoy)
-Obsession #2
-Obsession #3
-Dreams of the Sleepers, Alexis Fegan Black
(wanna see what her real slash fic is like)
-Spindizzie #6
-Starborne
-The Mystic Bond
-The Sensuous Vulcan
-Those Who Believe

From Karen (of the wonderful Zinedex) I am getting:
-In Triplicate
-T'hy'la #1
(yay!)
-Obsc'zine #3

I also had an incredible stroke of luck and after exchanging a few mails with Lyra (of the fabulous BL and ST fics), she offered me some of her doubles: Consort 2, Thyla 6, Thyla 19, Alternative Epilog to Orion II, and (yay!) Worlds Apart. And she's sent them already. To quote Lula: she's SO the shit :-D I also asked for Covert Action on an LJ I found through a Google search, but while the journal seemed to still be active, I haven't heard from the lady in the 3 weeks since I commented.

So, I'll wait for all of those to arrive and then I might order a few more zines, new this time, from publishers. If I like Dreams of the Sleepers I'll probably order the 2 sequels from Jim & Meldoy (if they're still available) and get Year of the Ram and The Sound of Rain from Fanzines Plus. If I like Dovya Blacque's style in Splendor I'll buy Shadows in the Rain at Asidozine. I'm also going to contact Merry Men Press to see if there's any way I might get first editions (meaning, complete versions that include art) of one of the novels (probably First Light, or perhaps the Deanna Gray one) and First Time #42 (ETA) and #25. But before that I'll wait to see what Jenna has in her upcoming zine sale. I'm crossing my fingers for Beyond Dreams 1.

I'm probably going to place another order at Amazon soon as well. I learned yesterday that Esprit de Corps was finally out, and the 4th season of Boston Legal is at 19,99$. I just need to find something to complete the order to get free shipping. I'm pissed off that I didn't get the "very good" copy of Get a life... I put it in my cart last night and this morning it was gone. Grr.

ETA 1, 16h25: Jenna's zine sale at the KSCentral was fabulous. Luckily I had not left work yet when she sent out her list and I managed to snatch a copy of Daring Attempt #2, which stories seem very interesting. Yay! The downside is that I had an instant coup de coeur for two 2 First Time zines but they were already taken. That's what happens when you have to actually read the descriptions, it takes much longer before you can send in your titles. Now I have to add FT 4 and 25 to my zine wish list.

ETA 2, 22h40: Received Lyra's zines tonight. HURRAH!! And OMG, 3 have Shelley Butler covers and they're simply magnificent. I can't stop admiring them. Some of the interior artwork is rather explicit - roaaaar!! :-DDD Spotted a few 1st-time stories that I'm already devouring :-D. ETA: Ok, one of the covers was actually not a Butler one but so incredibly well done that I thought it was. Artist is credited as "The Southern Cross". Fantastic. Now I have another artist whose work to watch out for :).
