About time! For a country that invented the KamaSutra (which isn't all hetero, from what I saw in the Paris museum of erotica) and has a long tradition of eunuchs, cross-dressers and transgenders, this was a ridiculous taboo to maintain. Apparently it dates back to the days of the British rule. Another "benefit" of colonization, no doubt. I remember watching the movie Dostana a few months ago (it features two guys "pretending" to be gay and ends on a very ambiguous note) and wondering how well it was received in India. Would it help open people's mind, or was it a sign that minds were already more open? With this new court decision, I tend to go with the latter. Of course, while people in the big cities might a more open-minded, I'm guessing it's going to take a very long time before mentalities change everywhere in such a large and varied country. Still, it is a step in the right direction. :)
